New Delhi: The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said the "Decision on allowing FDI in retail not taken in any hurry, but well considered." Singh further added that there is lot to more to do, but the challenges are not easy to meet.
“We have put some conditions so that FDI in retail encourages small and medium enterprises of the country,” said the Prime Minister. He also added that there is no compulsion on states to implement decision on FDI in retail. He further stated that the States which do not see benefits of FDI in retail, there are ways not to implement it.
While talking on the Parliament session being interrupted, he said that there are a number of new laws to be enacted but the Opposition do not allow the Parliament to function. The Prime Minister also said that the government has taken a lot of measures to control inflationary pressure and he hopes these will help bring down prices.
